  • IPQ5018 Qualcomm SoC with QCN6102/QCN6122 Solution Low Cost Embedded Router 2.5GbE WiFi 6

     

    For several years, Wallys Communication has been providing embedded router boards powered by Qualcomm technology. These include the DR8072A, which features dual 2.5GbE and WiFi 6 connectivity and is positioned as a high-end option. Additionally, the company has released a more affordable WiFi 6 SBC with Gigabit Ethernet ports that uses the IPQ6010 chipset.

     

    Now, Wallys Communication has launched a new embedded router board, the DR5018, which offers WiFi 6 and 2.5GbE connectivity at a lower cost. The DR5018 is based on the Qualcomm IPQ5018 dual-core Cortex-A53 SoC, which is also used in the Xiaomi Mi AX6000 router.

    5G/6E Solution:IPQ5018 with QCN6102/QCN6122

    QCN6122 and QCN6102 are two Wi-Fi chips commonly used in embedded and industrial applications. They have distinct differences, including architecture, network speeds, power consumption, and peripheral interfaces. QCN6122 has a dual-core processor architecture, supporting up to 3 MU-MIMO data streams with a maximum network speed of 867Mbps. Its power consumption is higher than that of QCN6102. QCN6122 also supports USB 3.0 and PCIe Gen2 interfaces, whereas QCN6102 only supports USB 2.0 interfaces. In comparison, QCN6102 is better suited for low-power applications, such as IoT devices, due to its single-core processor architecture and a maximum network speed of 300Mbps.

     

    Both QCN6122 and QCN6102 can be utilized with the IPQ5018 board, which is a high-performance embedded processor integrating a quad-core ARM Cortex-A53 processor and high-speed network connection. The board supports dual-band Wi-Fi, including 802.11ac and 802.11ax, and is also compatible with 802.11a/b/g/n. The IPQ5018 board acts as a central processing unit (CPU) to manage and control the Wi-Fi module of QCN6122 or QCN6102.

     

    By utilizing the IPQ5018 board with QCN6122 or QCN6102, high-performance and high-speed Wi-Fi connection can be achieved, which is suitable for various industrial application scenarios, such as Internet of Things, smart home, and smart manufacturing.
